Have you checked out the new BP "A Little Better" Ads? They're cool, fun and goofy. I still have a hard time understanding how British Petroleum can sell their environmental message, "Beyond Petroleum", with a straight face.
More troubling, however, was the news today of John Browne's retirement and the stories emphisis on other BP problems, including the Alaskan oil spill last year.
If you're marketing is going to talk the talk, the company better be able to walk the walk.
BP is leading the way (compared to the Exxons and other companies of the world) in alternative energy sources - particularly solar. Cynicism regarding "Beyond Petroleum" is perhaps valid as it is still an oil dominated world but that should not take away from their efforts - howsoever minimal they may seem today.
If there is money to be made, and there sure is in solar - as the last couple years are any indication - they (oil companies and others) will join in!
Lets just hope leaders (corporate and government) realize the pitfalls of an oil dependent economy/world and put in more efforts to take us beyond petroleum!
