Fashion Skull

Have you noticed a proliferation of skulls in art and on clothing lately, as I have? What has made this once forbidden image a fashion statement.?

Is it the growth of Latin culture and it's increasing importance in American culture? Or, is it the influence of the Goth look?

If nothing else, it's fascinating to watch the forbidden become mainstream.

Maybe its the cute skull syndrome, you stll don't see the more aggro stuff. I guess it seems played out to me but I did grow up drawing it on every skateboard I had as well as just about everything else.

I think the skull has become mainstream by being part of the whole action sports uprising. Since those sports are much more 'alternative' in nature the skull is pretty much a requirement

Of course we just did it to piss people off so maybe that's the difference - now it costs $29.95 to be alternative.

I think that this post about the proliferation of skulls in fashion and the anti-co creation post about Urban ripping off artists have a lot more to do with each other than you think.

It was ripped-off up the food chain until it became a bona fide trend.

art has informed fashion, cezanne, picasso and more recently Warhol have used skulls in their work. Clearly when Cezanne painted skulls they were not going to influence the fashion of the time, the time had to be right [now]. Look at Andy's use of camouflage, and then look on the mainstreet!

The skull symbolizes death. So it makes sense that it's in high fashion now. Most every culture or gang or society has used this symbol on their insignia etc to strike fear into outsiders and/or indicate what creed they live(d) by . . . death (namely the death of others).
Simple examples of these are pirates.

Given that the killing of innocents due to genocide, mercy killing and abortion i think we're living a veritable culture of death. I think that symbols are powerful signs of the behaviors and intentions of people.

When I watch a tutorial on here, I’m not loionkg for grasp of spoken language, rather the grasp of Blender. He conveys himself well and I haven’t come across a tutorial he’s done where I’ve found myself pondering his meaning because he’s pronounced a word differently to myself.A word can change pronunciation even if you just travel to another State or City within the same Country.He produces high quality interesting tutorials. So who really cares if he pronounces one little word ever so slightly different?Plus, language is a concept of man. We created it. We assigned sounds to the words we created. So, with language beaing man-made, and therefore not a natural certainty or governing law, like bio-mechanics, there is no true of false pronunciation, only a preferred.

In all fairness, there's no easy way to corcret somebody. Personally I ignore grammar and pronunciations because I know I do them myself. But the more you try to explain how small, tiny a mistake is the bigger a deal it comes across.
