Time?

I paddled out to surf this morning while a light breeze blew offshore. I joined my wife, Bridget and few friends who were already in the water. As nice chest high waves came rolling through I could see my boys, Charlie and Harry playing in the tidal pools as the early morning sun danced off the water and I started to think about time.

Like all of us, especially those of us who get obsessed with our blogs, time seems to slip by so quickly. I’ve been feeling especially up to my eyeballs lately between writing Spark, running a company and writing on various blogs. You know the drill.

As I caught a beautiful wave I started thinking about balancing all the stuff I have to do. I started doing some calculations in my head. I’m 45. So, if I live until I’m 80, I’ve got 35 years left. In that time I know I’ll probably:

1. Sleep 8 hours a day or 11.5 years

2. Work 8 hours a day (until I’m 65) or 6.6 years

3. Eat 2 hours per day or 2.9 years

4. Be online 3 hours a day or 4.4 years

5. Goof around (reading, tv, etc.) 2 hours a day or 2.9 years

5. In the bathroom ½ hour per day or .7 years

6. Deal with life’s necessities (commuting, shopping, running errands, etc.) 2 hours per day or 2.9 years

So, the total years of already planned stuff is 31.9 years I’ve got 3.1 years or 1131 days to do what I follow my bliss and that scares me!

Great site thanks for showing it to me.
Time is our illusion. Our constructs bind us.
In one second more can be changed than in a year if we are truly aligned to the moment.
Moments freeze/experience etches/illusion becomes reality.
I hope that all our skills in branding and marketing will help us and those we attempt to influence get past the process and create true harmony between the things we sell and want people to buy. Maybe someday we will get it right. I believe that Radar is very close to helping us co-create with our customer. I would not like to have a predator/prey relationship be perceived as the goal of branding. You guys are on the right track.
