On the Road

I was just in Las Vegas speaking at the IQPC Brand Building Conference. While the attendance was small, there were several great talks. My speech was centered around Chapter Eleven: Telling the Story, from Beyond the Brand. I've given variations of the speech quite a few times in the past six months. Usually, storytelling is a novel concept. Yet at this conference, many people are starting to talk about the power of stories. It was good to see. I'll add some tips on storytelling to a post in the next couple of days.

On Monday afternoon, I slipped out of the conference and headed to the Snowsports Industry Association Tradeshow. It's been awhile since I've been to the show. If you get a chance, it's a great place to go to look at the raw side of branding, especially in the snowboard area. Of special interest was the new branding effort by Bula with a taxidermy theme. They received some extra press in Europe for a stir the caused painting cows with their logo. Livestock branding! It's amazing how things come full circle.
